Dive charter

We had a dive charter yesterday.  The seas were flat and you could not have asked for a better weather day.  We went out to the 35 mile range in 90-100' water and my two guys were able to make 3 dives.  The first two dives yielded a handful of hog snapper, a lobster and nice sheepshead.  A lot of gag and scamp grouper were seen.  In between dive spots we fished for sea bass and caught our limit within an hour of 2-4 pound jumbo bass.  We also caught and released scamp grouper and an american red snapper.  We have a new secret squid jig that has been working wonders for bottom fishing as well as trolling.  I had a number I wanted these guys to try as I had smoked the big grouper on it last year.  I dropped the guys down at 3PM for the last dive of the day and 30 minutes later they can up with a stringer full of large hog snapper and another lobster.  They said the place was incredible with over 100 grouper spotted including many over 20#s.  Lots of hog snapper and schools of american reds.  These guys dive a lot and said it was one of the most prolific spots they had ever seen (large gags and scamps everywhere).  I knew the number was good from the one time I fished it, but was good to hear first hand what was down there.  Getting ready for May 1st and the opening of grouper season.  The fishing is going to be hot.  Call today for your charter!

New Season 2010

We are spending this time to get the boat detailed out, all tackle cleaned and new line added, and are looking forward to a great 2010 season! The grouper open up May 1st which matches up well with the first influx of dolphin and good king mackerel fishing. After the recent four month closures the fishing should be outstanding in May and this summer! Call or email today to book your trip. We will be targeting large gag, red and scamp grouper along with a variety of other species. We caught a 112 pound wahoo in May a few years ago on our light line while bottom fishing so you never know what you might catch. Other notable catches includes many red grouper over 30 pounds last year including one at 40 pounds, a mere pound off of the world record. We had several scamp grouper in the 20 pound range with one beast at 28 pounds! We also had a lot of gag grouper from the teens in the mid 20's with bigger ones hooked and lost. Quite a few large kings, cobia and sailfish were seen on the lightline and large amberjack are always around as well. I will be updating pictures and trip reports as the season starts. Tight lines!!
